Hi there, I'm Lauren! I am a lifestyle newborn photographer serving Lubbock and the surrounding area. I am also a wife and a mama.
It is truly an honor to be invited in to each family's story. My hope is that, over time, your newborn photos become one of your family's greatest treasures, just as ours have become one of ours.
From the start of my photography career, I have always thought newborn pictures are a beautiful way to freeze the family moments every Mama wants to hang onto forever.
And then I had a baby of my own. And my love for newborn pictures deepened in ways I never expected.
Becoming a Mama shifted my perspective. My style stayed the same, but my perspective changed entirely.
Now, I see the details differently. I notice the way you instinctively kiss the top of your baby's head. I know how how vulnerable it feels to be in front of the camera. I remember standing in my own closet with nothing that felt quite right postpartum. And because I've lived it, I can serve Mamas with greater empathy.
My husband did a really good job of taking phone pictures throughout the newborn days. He captured some sweet moments and the photos he took captured priceless moments. But the quick phone snaps didn't capture the newborn days quite the way I hoped.
The lighting wasn't always great. Some of the pictures are blurry, some don't have the best angles, and there aren't many phone pictures of my husband and me in the frame together with our baby. And, if I'm honest, I don't love the way I look in many of the pictures.
Exhibit A pictured to the right
Let me be clear -- I am not an advocate for everything to be picture-perfect. My postpartum season was far from picture-perfect (but still beautiful in other ways), and my intention was not to make it appear perfect. But, as women and Mamas, I think we can all relate to how nice it is to have pictures where we look and feel like the beautiful women and Mamas that we are. Especially in a season where there is a lot of change happening to, within, and around us.
That's what made the professional pictures so meaningful to me.
The phone pictures have a place for sure. But I'm grateful to have the professional photographs with even lighting, complementary angles, and beautiful image quality. My husband and I are both in the frame loving on our baby. And I am grateful to have pictures to look back on where I look and feel beautiful in that season, too.
The professional newborn pictures did not make our newborn and postpartum season perfect. But they did give us a beautiful way to remember the sweet, tender beauty that was already there.
Your baby won't care about the finger (or paw) printed windows or the wall you still need to decorate, but they'll treasure seeing the way you loved them.
Your home does not have to be perfect for an in home session.
Mom, Dad, and Siblings belong in the pictures.
Let the toddlers be toddlers.
Connection over perfection.
Years from now, it won't matter whether every hair was in place or if everyone looked at the camera.
What you'll treasure is remembering how this season felt.
One day, your baby will treasure these photos of you, too.
The wiggles, giggles, cuddles, and curiosity often become the
memories you'll love the most.
